Freshly cut pineapple should be refrigerated promptly to maintain safety and quality.
Refrigerator

Store sliced pineapple in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator. Do not store at room temperature for extended periods.
Freezer
10-12 months
Freeze pineapple slices in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to airtight freezer bags or containers. This prevents clumping.
Signs of Spoilage
- Soft, mushy texture
- Darkening or browning of the flesh
- Sour, fermented, or off-odor
- Presence of mold (fuzzy spots, white or green)
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Always refrigerate cut pineapple promptly. Discard any cut pineapple that has been in the danger zone for too long.
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling fresh produce.
Wash whole pineapple under running water before cutting, even if you plan to peel it.
Use clean cutting boards, utensils, and dishes to prevent cross-contamination.
Refrigerate cut pineapple within 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Discard any cut pineapple left at room temperature for too long.
