Not recommended

Freshly cut pineapple should be refrigerated promptly to maintain safety and quality.

Refrigerator

3-5 days

Store sliced pineapple in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator. Do not store at room temperature for extended periods.

Freezer

10-12 months

Freeze pineapple slices in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to airtight freezer bags or containers. This prevents clumping.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Soft, mushy texture
  • Darkening or browning of the flesh
  • Sour, fermented, or off-odor
  • Presence of mold (fuzzy spots, white or green)

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods, including cut fruits, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), this time limit is reduced to 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Always refrigerate cut pineapple promptly. Discard any cut pineapple that has been in the danger zone for too long.
