Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (for cut pineapple)
Keep whole, unpeeled pineapple at room temperature until ripe. Once ripe, consume or refrigerate. Any cut pineapple should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling fresh produce.
Wash the outside of the pineapple under cool running water, scrubbing with a clean produce brush if desired, before cutting to prevent transferring bacteria from the rind to the edible fruit.
Use a clean cutting board and utensils when preparing pineapple.
Refrigerate cut pineapple in a clean, covered container within 2 hours (1 hour if the ambient temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
