Pumpkin pie containing eggs and dairy should not be stored at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if above 90°F/32°C).
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Cover loosely with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Store in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
Freezer
1-2 months
Wrap tightly in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil, or place in a heavy-duty freezer bag. For best quality, freeze whole or in slices.
Signs of Spoilage
- Visible mold growth on the crust or filling
- Sour, off-odor
- Unusual discoloration
- Slimy or watery texture in the filling
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.
Pumpkin pie, due to its egg and dairy content, is highly perishable and should be refrigerated promptly after cooling. Discard any pie left at room temperature for longer than the recommended time.
