Pantry
Not RecommendedUnsafe
Raw beef should not be stored at room temperature due to rapid bacterial growth.
Refrigerator
1-2 days
Store raw beef cubes in a clean, sealed container or original packaging on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator to prevent juices from dripping onto other foods. Maintain refrigerator temperature at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
6-12 months
For best quality, wrap raw beef cubes tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil, freezer paper, or place in airtight freezer bags. Label with the date of freezing.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Dull, grayish-brown, or green discoloration
- Mold growth
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Always refrigerate or freeze raw beef promptly. Discard any raw beef left in the danger zone for too long.
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling raw beef.
Prevent cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards, plates, and utensils for raw and cooked meats.
Cook raw beef cubes to an internal temperature of 160°F (71.1°C) as measured with a food thermometer.
Thaw frozen beef cubes safely in the refrigerator, in cold water (changed every 30 minutes), or in the microwave (cook immediately after thawing).
