Rice pudding is a perishable food and should not be stored at room temperature. Refrigerate promptly.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Store promptly in shallow, airtight containers. Ensure refrigerator temperature is 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
1-2 months
Freeze in airtight, freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Visible mold growth
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Unusual discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Perishable foods, including rice pudding, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is reduced to 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Refrigerate rice pudding within 2 hours of preparation (1 hour if the ambient temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
If reheating, ensure it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Do not refreeze thawed rice pudding.
Avoid cross-contamination by using clean utensils and containers.
