Saffron milk is a perishable dairy product and should not be stored at room temperature once prepared or opened. It requires constant refrigeration.

Store saffron milk in an airtight container at 40°F (4°C) or below. Do not store in the refrigerator door, as temperatures can fluctuate there.

Freezer

Saffron milk can be frozen in airtight containers, leaving about 1 inch of headspace as liquids expand when frozen. Thaw in the refrigerator. The texture may become slightly grainy or separated upon thawing, but it remains safe to consume.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Bitter or unpleasant taste
  • Lumpy, curdled, or unusually thick texture
  • Discoloration
  • Presence of mold

Room Temperature Safety

Follow the 2-hour rule: Do not leave perishable foods, including saffron milk, at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Promptly refrigerate or discard saffron milk that has been left in the danger zone for too long to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
