Once opened, transfer pineapple and its liquid to a clean, airtight glass or plastic container. Do not store in the original can.

  • Mold growth
  • Discoloration
  • Fuzzy appearance
  • Bulging, leaking, or severely dented cans (for unopened product)
  • Foaming or bubbling liquid

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule applies: Perishable foods should not be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), food should not be left out for more than 1 hour. Promptly refrigerate or discard opened canned pineapple left at room temperature within these limits.
