Pantry

Not Recommended

Not recommended for opened liquid/paste forms

Unopened soup base (liquid, paste, or powder) can be stored in a cool, dry pantry until the 'Best By' date. Once opened, liquid or paste forms should be refrigerated immediately. Powdered soup base, if kept dry and sealed, may last longer in the pantry, but always check product-specific instructions.

Refrigerator

3-4 days

Store opened liquid or paste soup base in a tightly sealed, airtight container. Always check the product label for specific storage instructions after opening, as some commercial products may have different recommendations.

Freezer

2-3 months

Liquid soup base can be frozen in airtight containers or freezer-safe bags. Leave headspace for expansion. Label with the date. Powdered soup base is generally not frozen.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Off odor
  • Mold growth
  • Discoloration
  • Unusual texture (e.g., slimy)
  • Gas production (bulging container)

Room Temperature Safety

40°F–140°F

Perishable foods, including opened liquid or paste soup base, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.
