Soya yogurt requires refrigeration. Do not store at room temperature once opened. Shelf-stable varieties, if unopened, should follow manufacturer's instructions.
Refrigerator
1-2 weeks
Keep refrigerated at 40°F (4°C) or below. Keep container tightly sealed after opening.
Freezer
1-2 months
While safe to freeze, the texture of soya yogurt may change, becoming more watery or grainy upon thawing. Thaw in the refrigerator.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor (beyond normal fermentation smell)
- Visible mold growth
- Significant discoloration
- Unusual slimy or sticky texture
- Excessive liquid separation (beyond normal whey separation)
- Bulging container (indicates gas production from spoilage)
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for food is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.
Always refrigerate soya yogurt promptly after purchase and use. Discard any soya yogurt that has been left in the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
Safe Handling
Always keep soya yogurt refrigerated at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Do not leave soya yogurt at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Use clean utensils to scoop yogurt to prevent cross-contamination.
Discard if left in the 'Danger Zone' (40°F-140°F) for too long.
