Store unwashed strawberries in their original container or a breathable container in the refrigerator. Wash gently just before eating to prevent premature spoilage.

  • Dull color
  • Mold (fuzzy white or gray spots)
  • Sour or fermented odor

Room Temperature Safety

40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)

Fresh strawberries should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), they should not be left out for more than 1 hour, as bacteria can multiply rapidly in the danger zone.
