Refrigerator

Store unwashed string beans in a plastic bag or container in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
Freezer
10-12 months
For best quality, blanch string beans before freezing. Wash, trim, and cut beans. Blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes, then cool immediately in ice water. Drain thoroughly, pack into freezer bags or containers, and freeze.
Signs of Spoilage
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Soft spots or mushiness
- Mold growth (white, fuzzy, or discolored patches)
- Off-odor
- Discoloration (yellowing or browning)
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Fresh string beans should be refrigerated promptly after purchase. Do not leave them at room temperature for extended periods to prevent spoilage and bacterial growth.
