Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For best quality and safety, refrigerate as soon as possible.
Refrigerator
3-5 days
Store unwashed fresh Surti Papdi in a plastic bag or breathable container in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Wash just before use.
Freezer
8-12 months
For best quality, blanch Surti Papdi before freezing. Wash, trim, and blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then cool quickly in ice water. Drain thoroughly, pat dry, and pack into airtight freezer bags or containers.
Signs of Spoilage
- Soft or slimy texture
- Mold growth (fuzzy white, green, or black spots)
- Off-odor or sour smell
- Significant discoloration (e.g., yellowing or browning)
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
To maintain safety and quality, fresh Surti Papdi should be refrigerated promptly after purchase or harvest. Do not leave it out on the counter for extended periods.
